Dubai – Al Naboodah Construction Group

Al Naboodah Construction Group (ANCG), a Dubai based construction company, is made up of 9 businesses within the Group, such as Engineering, Buildings, National Plant and Civil.

A Strategic Group decision was made that each of the 9 businesses had to migrate from its own database, system & processes to a ‘Single Group’ solution.

ModusBPS was approached to help with this end-to-end solution.

The requirement, set with almost impossible deadlines, had to result in the strategic view of achieving optimal financial and operational benefits across the Group.

3 Key decisions made by the current ANCG CEO, enabled ModusBPS to successfully implement the solution. These decisions were:

  • Follow the ModusBPS Model Driven approach… (Model the System & Business processes);
  • Break the traditional thinking around System Implementations;
  • Drive the entire project & deliverables through the models.

Some challenges faced by ModusBPS:

  • As ModusBPS operates from South Africa, we had to plan and implement our time optimally to benefit from the available working hours in Dubai;
  • ANCG doubled its turnover in 2008… So an extended JDE implementation was out of the question;
  • In the global ERP market, the number of experienced ERP practitioners has declined dramatically.

The conclusion:

  • By changing the traditional Implementation Life Cycle, there were radical improvements in the quality & time to implementation. Businesses within the group quickly realized value from their JDE investment. The investment was realized in a few months compared to the traditional 9-18 months. The intelligent management and identification of repeatable patterns reduced the time to create, document, communicate and implement this solution.

The use of the ModusBPS model base approach reduced the reliance on experienced ERP resources.
