Al Naboodah Construction is an UAE based company situated in Dubai that employs more than 30 000 employees. These employees are based on various sites in different divisions and business units throughout the company. The largest portion of this workforce falls under the Labour category which consists mainly of tradesmen working on construction sites. The labour workforce is managed and administrated through a subsidiary company National Labour. The remainder of the workforce consists of management and their subordinates. The staff compliment was managed and administrated through the respective business units. This led to multiple process and documentation within the organization for the same processes, (causing duplication of effort, and/ or redundancy) which in turn made it difficult to control and manage, both from an employer and employees perspective. The Al Naboodah Group needed to standardize and centralize the HR department in order to have better control and management over all the HR processes, and made a strategic decision to create a new CSU (Central Service Unit) department in the company to service the group’s HR requirements. The group solicited the services of ModusBPS to assist them in realizing this strategic move by documenting the standardized process to be followed by the CSU.
ModusBPS conducted workshops over a four week period with representatives from business and assisted in standardizing and re-engineering all existing processes in to a single process going forward. This also enabled business to make and strategize new processes that were required due to a short fall in existing processes in order to have more control and flow in processes.
The newly documented process will enable the group to run a more effective HR department, as well as manage any future policy changes etc within the company. Employees will also benefit from this in that it simplifies processes and documentation to use.
